On Friday, December 12, Plaza College celebrated the Dental Hygiene Class of 2025 (Cohort 11) during their Pinning Ceremony at the festive Il Bacco in Queens. The event marked the moment students officially stepped into their future as dental hygiene professionals. The ceremony was attended by members of Plaza College’s administration, staff, and faculty, who gathered to formally recognize and send off these future dental hygienists.
The ceremony began with remarks from Provost Callahan of Plaza College, who commended the students on their hard work and accomplishments. He was followed by Dr. Sleeper, Dean of Dental Sciences, who welcomed guests and acknowledged the support of faculty, staff, families, and friends throughout the students’ academic and clinical journey. Lastly, Dr. Jennings took to the stage to share his enthusiasm for Cohort 11, congratulating their efforts and kickstarting the award portion of the ceremony.
Students were recognized for achievements in academics, leadership, and professional growth. Honors included inductions into the Sigma Phi Alpha Honor Society, awarded to the top 25 percent of the class, as well as awards celebrating clinical excellence and dedication to patient care.

One of the most memorable moments of the evening was the pinning ceremony itself, as each graduate was pinned by a loved one or faculty member—a touching tradition that marked their official step into the dental hygiene profession. Graduates earning bachelor’s degrees received an extra pin to celebrate their extended academic journey.
The ceremony closed with the class reciting the Dental Hygiene Oath, pledging their dedication to ethical practice, compassionate care, and lifelong learning.
As the evening ended with photos, laughter, and plenty of dancing, it was clear that Cohort 11 is ready to take on the next chapter of their careers with confidence and excitement.
