WHAT IS MEDICAL CODING AND BILLING?
Medical Coding and Billing is the process of analyzing patient charts to identify procedures, diagnoses, and treatments and turning that data into codes to submit billing to insurance companies for reimbursement. The professionals in this field work with doctors, patients, and payers to ensure that healthcare providers are accurately paid for the services they perform.

The program is designed for a student who wishes to begin a career in billing and medical office administration gaining skills and knowledge in electronic health records, medical records coding, legal practices and regulations in health care and medical billing for reimbursement. Students will develop skills to monitor compliance with regulations, extract coding information, enter patient information into an electronic health record, and process and prepare insurance claim forms and appeals when reimbursement is denied or reduced.
