Bachelor of Science (B.S.)
Plaza’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing is designed as an upper-division program whereby students will apply 60 previously-earned credits to 60 core nursing credits to complete the B.S. degree. The B.S. program is offered in two formats:
Full-Time: 4 semesters of full-time weekday courses, Monday-Friday
Part-Time: 7 semesters of part-time evening and weekend courses
Students may gain access to this highly sought-after Upper Division Nursing, B.S. program through one of two tracks:
Direct Entry: Students who already possess a prior degree (Associate or Bachelor) or at least 60 college credits and have taken the required prerequisite courses may apply for direct entry into the B.S. program.
Foundational Entry: First-time college students and those who do not possess a prior degree and/or the required prereqs may apply for acceptance into the Allied Health Science, A.S. program to complete the requirements to qualify to apply to the B.S. program.

WHAT IS NURSING?
Nursing is an integral part of the healthcare system in the United States. Nurses build relationships with their patients so they may assist them in attaining and maintaining optimal health and wellness. In New York, there are four nursing professions for which a qualified applicant may apply for licensure. This program fulfills the educational requirements for the application for licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN).

- Earning your B.S. degree and beginning your career in only approximately 16 months is appealing to you.
This program of study is built upon a solid base in liberal education that provides a cornerstone for the practice and education of nurses. The program will provide graduates with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide high quality and safe health care. It will offer professional nursing practice, grounded in the translation of current evidence, and will instill in graduates, professionalism and the inherent values of altruism and autonomy. The Plaza College Nursing program graduate, given successful curriculum completion, will qualify to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX), which is required to apply for licensure in the State of New York.
Our professors are subject matter experts in their fields. Throughout the program, they’ll share their knowledge with you, providing a strong foundation and hands-on experience to prepare you for a successful healthcare career.
The Nursing program consists of 120 credits of Liberal Arts and Science* and nursing courses. Upon successful completion of required coursework, graduates are qualified to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX), which is required to apply for licensure in the State of New York. *Students are required to pursue, as a prerequisite to admission, a minimum of 60 credits of liberal arts and general education coursework prior to enrolling in the Nursing completion program. The liberal arts and general education coursework may be pursued at Plaza College or at any other college of choice. The current prerequisite requirements may be found in the College Catalog.
The baccalaureate degree program in nursing at Plaza College is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (http://www.ccneaccreditation.org).
