Court Reporting

Associate of Occupational Studies (A.O.S.)

What would you say if we told you there was a career as important today as it was thousands of years ago? From the introduction of the first symbolic alphabet, quickly and accurately recording history has been essential to the development of our present-day society. Today, this same principle applies to a modern, in-demand – Court Reporting. A court reporter, also known as a stenographer, works in a variety of settings and capacities to transcribe the spoken word using a stenotype machine.

WHAT IS COURT REPORTING?

Court Reporters, or stenographers, develop a skill set that enables them to write 225 words per minute with 95% accuracy using a unique stenographic theory! A degree in Court Reporting offers a flexible career in the courts, television and sports broadcasting, or captioning for the hearing impaired. Plaza College’s Court Reporting program is completely virtual-synchronous, allowing students to attend classes from home while meeting face to face with instructors and peers.
