On Wednesday, September 11th, the Plaza College School of Nursing celebrated the achievements of Cohort 3 graduates at their pinning ceremony. Hosted at the Inn at New Hyde Park, this significant event brought together friends, family, and faculty to honor the graduates’ transition into the nursing profession.

The pinning ceremony symbolizes the completion of their nursing education and marks their official entry into the field. The event commenced with introductions by Dr. Charlyn Habeeb, Dean of Nursing, and Provost Callahan.

The graduates heard from three distinguished keynote speakers: Christopher Ruppert, Chief Nursing Officer at Mercy Hospital; Ashley C., Cohort 3 Valedictorian; and Vivekand Singh, Director of Nursing, Finance, Operations & Medicine-Surgery at Jamaica Medical Center. Each speaker emphasized the importance of compassion in nursing, highlighted the collaborative nature of the profession, and stressed the importance of continuous learning in the field of nursing.

The ceremony also featured a presentation of awards by the nursing faculty. Each graduate was awarded their nursing pin and candle, symbolizing their entry into the profession. The event concluded with the graduates reciting the International Council of Nurses pledge led by Mrs. Callahan, RN.
