Plaza College joined the Big Hearts Walk for St. Mary’s Kids at Crocheron Park on Sunday, May 17, to raise funds and show support for St. Mary’s Hospital for Children. This unique medical facility specializes in caring for children and young adults with complex medical conditions and has been a cornerstone of the community since 1951. As stated by the organization, “The Big Hearts Walk is more than just a walk—it’s a celebration of hope, resilience, and the incredible strength of St. Mary’s Kids, children, and young adults with the most complex and challenging medical needs. When you walk, donate, or sponsor, you help St. Mary’s Kids reach milestones their families once thought were impossible.”
With more than 40 students and staff members in attendance, Team Plaza proudly participated as a Big Hearts Sponsor. Following the walk, two student groups took part in the festival activities by hosting educational showcases to share information about their respective programs. The Surgical Technology Student Club and Nursing students from the Evening Cohort engaged attendees with interactive displays and distributed prizes, including mini teddy bears, candy, fidget poppers, stickers, and more.
Plaza College looks forward to continuing its support of St. Mary’s Hospital for Children by participating in future community events, including upcoming Halloween and Christmas celebrations.
