JEZEBEL

Healthcare Management Student

Ms. Jezebel Lopez is a student studying Healthcare Management and anticipates graduating this Spring semester 2022! For Ms. Lopez, receiving the honor of Student of the Month represents to her, “hard work, dedication, participation, being kind to classmates, studying and submitting all work on time.” When it came to her career, Ms. Lopez always wanted to be a nurse but due certain circumstances which led to the amputation of her foot, she pivoted her major into another area of the medical field. She loves her coursework, especially classes with Director O’Connor who states that, “who despite personal adversity, Ms. Lopez always remains positive and holds herself accountable.” Her dedication to academics was most recently acknowledged in the Dean’s List for the Winter 2022 Semester as well. This semester, she looks forward to the Professional Development course (MG230) with Professor Iaconis to boost her confidence in public speaking.

Upon graduation, Ms. Lopez is excited to apply the skills she acquired to use Excel and SIM Charts, remarking that “Plaza College has made the coursework fun and interesting. I look forward to opening my laptop everyday to do SIM Charts as well as the work for my coding and billing classes. Plaza helped me regain my life purpose and career purpose. I thought being in a wheelchair I’d be limited but Plaza has opened up new opportunities for me.” Professor Welsh shares that, “Ms. Lopez always pushes herself to do well and asks insightful questions about the course content.” It is the goal of Ms. Lopez to work in hospital administration and acquire more skills through that role. She is also currently enrolled for her bachelor’s degree in Patient Information Management starting Fall semester 2022!

Ms. Lopez credits the virtual environment for allowing her to have work life balance saying “virtual classes make it accessible and comfortable for me to achieve and excel at Plaza. I can handle both home and academic responsibilities easily.” She recommends watching Chicago Med, Amsterdam and Grey’s Anatomy. Her favorite coffee is Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks k cups, particularly the blonde roast with cream and two sugars!
