DANISHA
Business Administration Student
Ms. Danisha Harrell is graduating this Spring semester 2022 with her Associate’s Degree in Business Administration and is also enrolled for her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration Management. Ms. Harrell credits her mother as her inspiration to go back to school. She also has always taken a keen interest in the field of business. “I’ve always had a business savvy mind set. I could use this degree universally no matter what field I decide to pursue.” Her most memorable time at Plaza College was being inducted into all three honor societies during the Fall 2021 semester. “I didn’t think I had the courage to be able to finish college and that showed me I can accomplish anything.”
Ms. Harrell looks forward to her marketing classes this Spring due to the desire to have her own business one day. She is also very proud of the computer skills she’s acquired at Plaza College. “Everyday I use excel spreadsheets more than anything. I am grateful for the Cengage and SAM classes. It expanded my knowledge and made me excited to go for the certification.” She also shares that the teachers and staff at Plaza College are available whenever she reaches out. “Everyone is so understanding. Dr. Finlay and Professor McKeithan were by my side supporting me academically during my move from New York to Georgia. They understood it would take time to get acclimated to a new location and job. They motivated me to do better and achieve greatness.” Dr. Finlay says that “Ms.Danisha Harrell is a very hard worker and always comes to class ready to participate and share her working experience with others. What I really like about Danisha is that she can connect the theories we discuss in class with her real-life experiences. She never hesitates to share her journey with others who can learn from her. She is always polite and professional in her conduct and conversations. She is a good example of a business professional. I am impressed with how she manages her busy work and school schedule even with life’s challenges. Her ability to overcome obstacles is a testament to her grit and determination to succeed. Her transition from the Associate’s program to the BBA program was seamless and she has adapted well to the rigor and quality of our BBA program. Ms. Harrell is a true leader in and out of the classroom and I congratulate her for displaying the qualities and characteristics of a successful Business student here at Plaza College.”
Ms. Harrell eventually wants to start a beauty business selling her handmade wigs, which she has been designing for herself since the age of seven and understands the impact appearance has on a person’s self esteem. “That’s why I want to do hair. You come to me as one person but when you leave my chair you’re going to be the person you picture yourself to be. I want you to leave believing you can do and be anything you set your mind to.” Ms. Harrell understands the importance of using her time wisely and sets alarms on her phone to keep her organized when it comes to her job and academic responsibilities. “I have to be at work at 5AM and wake up at 3:45AM. My day doesn’t end until 9:00PM. Thursday, Friday and Saturday are days I use to focus on schoolwork and personal tasks because that’s when I’m off.” Professor Iaconis states that “Ms. Harrell has demonstrated her commitment to quality work and performance. She has shown her ability to engage in critical thinking and informational literacy and understanding of important concepts. It was an honor working with her!” Ms. Harrell’s favorite shows are Criminal Minds, Legacies and the new Charmed series. She highly recommends checking out the Instagram page “Judy Dropping Knowledge” of beauty industry business leader Jessica Harris-Dupart, Owner of Kaleidoscope Hair, in which she talks about entrepreneurship; as well as Supa Cent who is the CEO of The Crayon Case makeup company. Supa Cent has a YouTube channel called Supabad where she talks about the business, a great resource for all interested in this field.
