CBS News Highlights Plaza College Center For Healthcare Simulation
FOREST HILLS, NEW YORK – Plaza College’s School of Nursing was recently visited by CBS News! Reporters covered Plaza’s accelerated nursing program on the five o’clock news on Friday, January 19th. The segment highlights how students prepare for a future in healthcare amidst the nationwide nursing shortage.
The coverage focused on Plaza’s Center for Healthcare Simulation which uses high-fidelity mannequins in order to simulate realistic patient care experiences. Training with healthcare simulations ensure students are prepared for real-world scenarios, enabling professors to provide constructive feedback.
Plaza’s Center for Healthcare Simulation consists of four labs that emulate the hospital units that the students will visit during their clinical rotations. The high fidelity mannequins create a realistic patient experience as their extensive functionality allows them to speak, blink, cry, turn jaundice, and even give birth!
The active learning that happens in the Center for Healthcare Simulation prepares the students for the diverse backgrounds and complex medical histories of patients they will encounter while at clinical rotations.
