Glenny Estrella is a student in the Bachelors of Business Administration Management program, graduating in spring semester 2025! Upon finding out she was selected for the Student Spotlight, she says “it’s an honor to be chosen, I wasn’t expecting that. I’ve always read the emails for my peers who have had this nomination, and it’s wonderful to now have my chance.” Glenny was motivated to pursue her bachelor degree by her son who is a student at Penn State majoring in finance. “I wanted to be an example for him. I realized part of me was missing and this was it. My son is so proud because I pursued my education.”

Her most memorable moment during her time at Plaza College was when she had to conduct a presentation in front of her classmates. “It was the first time I had to present in class using a Powerpoint. Dr. Finlay has been amazing in her guidance when it comes to my presentation skills.” This semester, she looks forward to participating in more virtual and on campus activities with the Society of Business Professionals. Dr. Finlay says, “Glenny is a pleasure to have in class. Her demeanor is always pleasant, even when she is challenged, she comes across as confident and willing to learn. Glenny is a very hard worker and always comes to class ready to participate and share her working experience with others. There are those who always see the cup half empty but Glenny always sees the cup half full. This is evident when she shares her “Takeaways” at the end of each class. She always has something positive to say! What I really like about Glenny is that she is not afraid to ask questions and she is an inspiration to me and the rest of the class. I have had Glenny for several classes in the BBA program and I can see how much she is growing as she comes to the end of her program. She is a good example of a business professional. Glenny is a true leader in and out of the classroom and I congratulate her for displaying the qualities and characteristics of a successful Business student here at Plaza College.”

Glenny first received her associate degree in Business Administration in 2022 from Plaza College. It was an easy decision for her to apply for the bachelor’s program. “Everyone at the school is amazing. Everyone is willing to help from the staff to the faculty. I tell all my friends if you want to pursue a career, call Plaza College. Just one call will change your life.” Her dream job is to be the CEO at a technology company and help companies stay on trend with the latest updates in this field. Dean Zipf says Glenny impressed her with “her resilience and definitely would subscribe to this motto about her education, ‘the struggle is worth it, and never give up.”

Balancing her academics and home responsibilities starts by setting boundaries. “Every time I’m in my online classes, my family understands and gives me space. Being in the virtual environment requires discipline. I always have my camera on and my microphone ready. There is no loud music or distractions in my household when I’m in the virtual classroom.” Glenny’s favorite fall season activity is walking to view the color changing leaves. Coffee is her favorite beverage every season! She enjoys watching The Blacklist on Netflix, a show about an FBI informant and investigations.
