The Society of Business Professionals recently celebrated a momentous occasion, welcoming 32 students from the School of Business into its distinguished membership. This cohort, composed entirely of virtual students and alumni, received renewed membership certificates, symbolizing their ongoing commitment to professional excellence and academic achievement.

A highlight of the event was an inspiring address by Jasmine Bazemore, who shared her transformative journey as a student in both the Associate and Bachelor’s programs. Her heartfelt speech reflected on how her education at Plaza College has played a pivotal role in advancing her career at the prestigious Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital. Her story served as a powerful testament to the impact of perseverance, dedication, and the opportunities afforded by higher education.

The ceremony featured remarks from esteemed faculty and administrators, including Dean Zipf, Dr. Wendy Finlay, Director Pokidaylo, Director Sawh, Ms. Clarke, and Director Cohn. Each speaker underscored the importance of the society’s mission and encouraged students to take an active role in Student Engagement activities—both social and philanthropic. Additionally, students were urged to leverage their academic network and consider furthering their education through the pursuit of Bachelor’s and Master’s programs.

At the heart of the ceremony was the recitation of the Society of Business Professionals oath, led by Dr. Finlay. This solemn pledge reinforces the organization’s core values of integrity, accountability, the continual pursuit of knowledge, and a deep respect for others in professional and academic settings. New members were called to embody these principles as they progressed in their studies and transitioned into the workforce.

The Society of Business Professionals remains an integral part of Plaza College’s commitment to student success, working in collaboration with the Department of Student Engagement to provide leadership opportunities, career development workshops, community service initiatives, and peer networking events. As these students embark on the next phase of their academic and professional journeys, they do so with the support of a strong and vibrant community dedicated to excellence.
