Before attending Plaza, Valerie S. was pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Communications, when she took a trip to work with her aunt, and decided to change her career path.
“Before I began studying to become a Court Reporter, I earned my Bachelor’s degree in
Communications with a minor in Sociology. During my junior year of college I spent a day at work with my aunt, the Captain of the Court Officers in the Westchester Court House. That day,I was introduced to the idea of becoming a Court Reporter. I had the opportunity to spend time with the Stenographers and use the machine a little bit. I really enjoyed it and felt as though this is something I could see myself doing.”
“Court Reporting is an athletic event. Practicing is key for success.” Valerie explains that you must be dedicated to working on your Steno machine, but the practice will certainly pay off when the job opportunities begin rolling in.
